Accomadates 2

This month (July) we are Indianapolis. A couple of days before we got here the hospital sent Dan an email and said that they have free housing. Well I had already booked a place on airbnb for Dan to stay.  So we decided that I would stay at that place and Dan would stay at the hospital. (I thought the place I booked only accommodated 1.). When we got to Indianapolis we went to Z's (our airBNB place) and checked in. Well talking with Z, she said that the room could accomadate 2. So we dropped off our stuff and went to go pick up Dan's packet with his badge and paperwork and went and checked out the room so if he had a really early case he could just sleep at the hospital.

Wow! It was a small hospital room with two beds and a mini fridge. I think the bathroom was almost the same size as the room. One of the beds was put between the two walls by the window. Dan laid down to see if he could even fit. His head was hitting one wall and his feet were hitting the other wall with his legs slightly bent. Dan Said, " I think this is pretty comfortable. What do you think?" we laughed.

Let's just say that I am glad the room I booked accommodates 2.

Places to stop

Since we are all over the US this year we are trying to make sure we are enjoying ourselves along the way. On our way to Indianapolis we stopped at Fair Oaks Farms. It's a place where they make there own cheeses and ice cream and sell them. They also had there our little sandwich shop. We had there grilled cheese sandwich. Yumm!  Then of  course due to my obsession with cheese, we purchased an array of cheeses that we enjoyed of the next 2 months.

Homeless . . .

I took my dad to the airport last Monday morning.  I have to admit I was a little nervous driving into Chicago.  It really was not bad at all. We took the scenic drive along the lake. It was beautiful. I was sad to see him go.

These last two weeks have been an interesting. I started working for Elaine, everyday there has been something new she would like to complain about. First, we were renting the basement, then we were renting 3/4 of the basement, then it was half the basement.  If you haven't been in the loop. Dan is in a new place very month until november rotating at different hospitals. So .    .  .  .
May-Waterloo, IA
June - Hammond, IN
July - Indianaplois, IN. And so on. .   .  .

The plan was to work for Elaine in Hammond  for half of June to cover 1/2 of June rent and I would work for her until the end of Sept to cover rent. So I could see Dan on the weekends instead of not seeing him at all. The arrangement was that I would work Monday thru Friday and have weekends off.

Well I have been here a week and a half, and things keep changing. It's like she can't make up her mind. Monday after I got there we had a little meeting to discuss terms and go over things and thought it went pretty well. We told her that we were going out of town the following weekend to our nephew's baptism. (which was fine as pre our arrangement and she agreed).

By Tuesday night the following week Elaine was really adamant to have another meeting. Dan was working really late so I ask if we could wait til he go back. ( i told her he probably won't get back until after 8pm.) She said sure. Well at 8pm, she said that we wasn't waiting anymore. She started nit-picking about everything under the sun, from how I can't go out of town on the weekends because she feels abandoned to how everything has to be put a certain way to how we shut the outside door, To how we are no longer renting the basement we are renting the bed and a 1/4 of the basement to store our some of our stuff. If I did the dishes, I couldn't let them airdry on the rack because it makes that area looked cluttered and so on.  .  .

I told her that I would work the rest of the week and we would be leaving and that this was not going to work out. When she asked why and that she didn't understand why I would not just love it there.  I smiled and trying not to laugh,  I just said it wasn't going to work out. However she insisted. So therefore I  picked one thing and explained nicely and calming the arrangement we had made and now she was going back on her word. She was so upset and defensive, so I just stopped and ended the conversation because it was not going to end well.

Everyday I would say to myself, it's just an adjustment, maybe I misunderstood, however after that meeting I have come to the conclusion she was just OCD and she can't handle anyone being in her space. So now I am homeless.

Let the adventure begin!

5-Star Service

When Dan arrive in Hammond he received a nice surprise. An old mission companion Rob Lords was finishing his residency.  The week before the rotation ended, they had a farewell party before they moved to California. Since they were chick-fil-a lovers a huge group of us met there for dinner. Since they were such good friends of the business we were able to get a tour and free food. it was nice and amazingly good.

Michael's Baptism

Yes I know, I just got to Indiana. On our way to Ohio.  Our wonderful nephew Michael turned 8 at the beginning of the month and he waited to be baptize so we could be there. It was a great weekend and was so wonderful to see family.  Here are some of our pictures. I had some pictures with Dan and I with the family however I can't find them. 

On the Road again

Have I told you that my dad is wonderful? He was so kind to drive out from Washington to Indiana with me. I truly enjoy every minute. We also stopped at some places along the way.

Day - 1 We stopped in Farmington, Utah and stayed with Jenn and Dennis and got to visit with their family and we were also able to visit with Laurie. This was a visit for me that was long over due.

Over the next couple of days we stopped at  a few destinations, some were great and one was a bust. we stopped in at Fort Bridger in wyominig, then continued to North Platts visitor center. This was a Bust! we were hoping there would be a bathroom at this visitor center due to the fact that we missed the last 2 rest stops due to the lack of signage.

We stopped in at Winter Quarters and Kanesville Tabernacle. for some reason I was thinking that Winter Quarters was going to be a fort of some kind. Why did I think this? who knows. I still enjoyed the visit. Here are some pictures of the trip. We finally reached our destination on Day 4 to Hammond, Indiana.

Washington here I come!

Good Bye Arizona! It's been Wonderful, Fun, Hot, and we have truly enjoy your beautiful Winters. We have had some laughs and some flat tires, dead Batteries and we have eaten some amazing food. Last but not least we have made some great and amazing people and friends. We will miss you all!

On my to Washington,  I made the drive in 3 days. After I had Lunch with my good Friend Laurie, I went back to make sure the POD was on it's way to Michigan and I drove to Vegas and stayed with Lindsay and Derek. It was good to see them it had been way to long, however it was good to catch up. The next day I drove to Kaysville, UT to surprise my grandma and take her to lunch. I was able to spend the afternoon with her then I went to spend the evening with my brother-in-law Darren and his Family (Dan's Brother). From the moment I walked through the door my nieces would barely let me sit down. (which I loved I just felt bad due to not having any energy from moving.) I was so excited to spend time with them. I have not had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Darren and Adrienne since Dan and I have gotten married. It was an amazing visit and hope to see them again soon.

I finally made it to Washington. While I was there I was able to watch my nephew Lucas. I can't believe how big he has gotten so fast. Sorry this isn't the greatest picture. Lucas kept trying to grab my phone :)

 My Mom and I also did some quilting. Some of you might remember the quilt I did for my laurel project 15 years ago. My mom sent me the scraps and I made a baby quilt. So I got to play on her quilting machine. It was fun. I am no expert. Hopefully I will finish the binding on it soon.

I was also able to spend some time with other family members and friends while I was home. I do have to give a huge thanks to Roxanne for driving down from Spokane and stopping at Rosas' Pizza on the way. If you have never had Rosas Pizza in Cheney or Airway heights.(I believe the just opened one in Spokane too) They have the best Cheese Bread That Dan and I had ever had and it's still at the top of our list. We also love there homemade ranch  as well. If you go,  tell Brad that Dan and Melissa sent you. YUMM!!
