While Dan was driving from Waterloo, IA to his next locations; he realized he was close to Antique Archaeology. American Pickers baby! Can you say anything else!! It's one our our favorite shows. Dan was not able to meet any one. However that doesn't mean he didn't have some fun. I was a little jealous being in Phoenix.

Gone Fishing
Dan had a day break were he couldn't visit any programs so we had some time to visit family. So Dan and his brother Dave went fishing for the afternoon. it's always great to have a little down time. I believe he got 3 fish that day. It was catch and release. What better way to enjoy some finishing when you don't have the ability to take it home.

It's finally Done. . . What else can we add to the chaos?
It has been interesting month, I have managed to sell the rest of the furniture and items we are not taking with us and pack up the rest of the house with some help from some close friends of course while Dan is in Waterloo, Iowa. I should have taken a picture of the pyramid of boxes that were in the kitchen. I did take some other pictures, however I think I took them with the other camera because I can't find them. I don't think I could of made it with out all those who helped me box things up and Finish cleaning. At the end I was so exhausted and tired. I was moving slower than a snail literally. I can not wait to see Dan in the middle of June.
We have moved many times, I knew it was hard work but for some reason it seemed so much harder this time around. I think it was because Dan was not there helping me make the decisions. But I learned a lot.
After I put the last of the items in the moving POD. I went to lunch with a good friend and a gal I visit teach. (Lunch was so nice and relaxing) Right as she get there the phone rings and the bank calls and asked me if I made a $1000 purchase at Best buy online. So long story short we had to cancel our credit card. we are not a big fan of credit cards so this made things interesting over the next month until we got out new one.

A cheaper way to eat healthier
While Dan was in Waterloo he was staying in a room at the hospital. There was a kitchenette down the hall with a microwave and a fridge. Dan was trying to come up with ways that he could eat healthier and cheaper instead of going out and eating in the cafeteria. He decided to go to a thrift store to see if he could find a sandwich maker or something to could make something other than microwave meals. He found this cup . . .
When he saw the cup he remembered that if you had your own cup refills at the hospital was .50 instead of $1.50 and the physician's lounge had free sodas if you had your own cup. Sometimes I think it fits. . . .

The Last Month . . .
Well Things have been a little busy as always. We have started to sell and get rid of things we can live with out or don't need; the house is starting to look a little empty(which is a good thing). You know it doesn't matter how long you live some where it always seems that you collect, gather, acquire so much stuff. I sometimes wonder where it all comes from.
Dan starts his last rotation in Phoenix this week. we are excited to put this 3rd year of school behind us and start our final year. (14 months and counting.) Yeah!!!

The McAffee Update
After all the crazy medical issues and events this last year (broken arm, gall bladder surgery, food poisoning, piece of wood through Dan's hand and finger, and his dad passing away.) Dan passed his Pharm Class with flying colors and we are excited to move on to the next step in his schooling.
Right now he is studying for Boards, teaching himself how to type, keeping up on the honey dew list I give him and getting over this cold/bronchitis he has had on and off since January.
Dan will begin his 3rd year of Medical school in June with his summer classes and take his boards in July and will begin Rotating in the Fall.
I have been keeping busy with work at UTI and with Pampered Chef. (For those of you who don't know I got a job working at Universal Technical Institute. I process the enrollments for future students.)
We both keep pretty busy with our church callings(Dan is a primary teacher and Melissa is the Choir director) and our hobbies. We are also enjoying the beautiful spring Arizona weather and hope that it will be a long spring.

Hot Plate
I made some beef pot pies yesterday with the leftover roast. For dinner tonight we were keeping it low key and decided to just eat all of the leftovers we have in the fridge. I couldn't find a container that fit the pot pies so I put seran wrap on it an put it in the fridge. Dan's asked if the plate was oven safe. so he could heat up the pot pies and not dirty any extra dishes. He is very thougthful.
I told him Yes. HOWEVER, you will need to be extra careful with the plate when it comes out of the oven. Dan then gave me this look, " well yeah, hot plate of course I am going to be careful."
The timer went off to check the pot pies, he got a hot pad to take the plate out of the 350 degree oven. All is well right. he put the plate on the stove to cool and went to get the rest of his dinner ready, fork, drink, etc.
He decided to grab everything for dinner (fork, drink, hot plate of food). Forgetting the plate just came from the oven; he picked up the plate. In mid-stride realize the plate was scorcthing hot not having time to put it on the counter, tossed the plate.
I have never seen a correl plate shatter and I have dropped many on my day. Needless to say the plate shattered into a million tiny pieces and we did not have pot pies for dinner.
It's never a dual moment in the McAffee household. Luckily, Dan does not have a career that requires the use of his hands :o)
