Face lift

Yep. It's 2015 and the blog is getting a face lift. Don't worry it's not going to look it this for too long. Check back in February for the new look!!!!!!

Do you Believe?

Yesterday in church a gentleman gave a talk. In this talk he related a story about a man who crossed Niagara Falls on a tight rope. The story goes as follows:

"Blondin' told a local newspaper that he was going to walk across the fall. The reporter that he was a little crazy but decided to tag along to see what would happen. The tightrope was stretched across and everyone who was curious was there to watch.
 Blondin' turned to the crowd and said, "do you believe I can do it?"
The crowd echoed with cheers, "yeah!"
So Blondin' grabbed his pole and started his way across. 17 minutes later he arrived.  Once he got to the other side. He asked the crowd on the other side do you think I can make it back? Do you believe I can make it.

Again the crowd roared and he was on his way back across the falls. This time it was a little uphill so it took him 23 minutes. But he still made it. Upon arrival the crowd cheered for his great accomplishment. Then he asked, " do you think I can make it?" He then had a friend get his wheel barrow. And he asked again, "do you believe I can make it?" the crowd continued to cheer.

Blondin' then said, "Great, I need a volunteer."  the crowd then became silent.

How many times do we say that we believe? Do we really believe. What are we doing to show that we do believe? How many times when our faith is tested, do we say we believe?

It is great to say one thing however it's when we do,  that is important.

Brickyard 500

Since we are here in Indianapolis this month and there is a race this month we decided on a whim to go. Very spontaneous! It was a lot of fun, there was lots of people and it was very loud. Thank goodness for ear plugs. Our seats were next to the pit crews. I timed it between 14-16 seconds for a pit stop. it was crazy how fast it was.

Here are the Cars after they have finished there 1st lap around the track.

The only disappoint part of the whole day was as we were walking the mile back to the car (literally) there was an elephant ear stand so we thought we would get one. I went over and there elephant ears were the size of a paper plate. Hello! Is that how big an elephant ear is?

To Sewing or not to sew

Due to me being without a sewing machine I asked if anyone on the ward had one that I could borrow. I had brought some sewing projects with me due to the fact that I was told I could use a sewing machine at Elaine's. So since that didn't work out I still had these projects to finish.

I nice elderly women in the ward said that I could use hers. I was so excited. Dan and I went to pick up her machine and I attempted to sewing the next day. I spent 2 days trying to fix the machine then finally gave up.

So sorry Dan your scrub caps will have to wait a little longer.

What to do?

Well now that I am here and we have settled into our room, what do I do during the day?  I checked out a temp agency and you have to be a resident of the state with an Indiana Drivers' license. so that didn't work. I have books that I can read but that only goes so far. the search was on for free things to do in Indy. there is quite a bit. they have a free art museum, a zoo, a city market that is pretty neat and lots of parks and so on. I decided that I would go to the art museum today. I never thought I would be the person who would love an art museum. Granite so of the stuff wasn't my cup of tea. however there was a lot of interesting and neat things. I only made it through the first floor. I will have to come back another day to finish.

Accomadates 2

This month (July) we are Indianapolis. A couple of days before we got here the hospital sent Dan an email and said that they have free housing. Well I had already booked a place on airbnb for Dan to stay.  So we decided that I would stay at that place and Dan would stay at the hospital. (I thought the place I booked only accommodated 1.). When we got to Indianapolis we went to Z's (our airBNB place) and checked in. Well talking with Z, she said that the room could accomadate 2. So we dropped off our stuff and went to go pick up Dan's packet with his badge and paperwork and went and checked out the room so if he had a really early case he could just sleep at the hospital.

Wow! It was a small hospital room with two beds and a mini fridge. I think the bathroom was almost the same size as the room. One of the beds was put between the two walls by the window. Dan laid down to see if he could even fit. His head was hitting one wall and his feet were hitting the other wall with his legs slightly bent. Dan Said, " I think this is pretty comfortable. What do you think?" we laughed.

Let's just say that I am glad the room I booked accommodates 2.

Places to stop

Since we are all over the US this year we are trying to make sure we are enjoying ourselves along the way. On our way to Indianapolis we stopped at Fair Oaks Farms. It's a place where they make there own cheeses and ice cream and sell them. They also had there our little sandwich shop. We had there grilled cheese sandwich. Yumm!  Then of  course due to my obsession with cheese, we purchased an array of cheeses that we enjoyed of the next 2 months.
